2009 - A Year of Great Music Part VII (#10-1)

This is it! Part VII finally shows the Top 10 list of songs that got out this 2009. Again, comments will be appreciated. My Top 10 list may not be looking good at all but still, I believe these songs really deserved it. Let us now get the ball rolling and end this countdown!

THE RUNNERS-UP:

#10 I Am Not A Robot – Marina and the Diamonds

From: The Crown Jewels EP

A very soulful single coming from the Welsh artist cracks it into my Top 10. The richness of Marina Diamandi’s vocals truly is shown here. I expect her to make a huge impact come 2010 as she releases her debut album The Family Jewels. British women do rule in my opinion.

#9 Empire State of Mind – Jay-Z feat. Alicia Keys

From: Blueprint 3

The best hiphop song that came out this year. Period. I would never have thought about the combination of Jay-Z and Alicia Keys working at all. It just seemed that their musical styles won’t mesh at all. However, Empire State of Mind proved me wrong big time. The song that got featured in the recent World Series delivers a patriotic message and yes, Jay-Z’s verses have really evolved in his latest album and this song showed how. Let us not forget how Alicia Keys sounded in this one. Hitting the high notes was truly spectacular and she made sure that the song will not fall apart.

#8 I Wish – Mini Viva

From: Colloquial Obsession

The British all-female pop group Mini Viva enters the countdown at #8 with I Wish. Flaunting off a very irresistible chorus, the song about regrets really excels all because of the lively vocals of Mini Viva. He could be the one who hits the light inside my soul. Great line and delivers the message perfectly. Thank you Mini Viva!

#7 Remedy – Little Boots

From: Hands

The RedOne-produced track for Victoria Hesketh, more known by her stage name as Little Boots, gets the 7th spot. The song is definitely a keeper for those who love listening to dance tracks. Remedy does possess a very sick and infectious beat that can make your head spin around. Definitely worth listening.

#6 No You Girls – Franz Ferdinand

From: Tonight: Franz Ferdinand

In my humble opinion, No You Girls is the best song from the latest effort of the band coming from Glassgow, Scottland. No You Girls features a very catchy chorus and a very scintillating guitar sound. No wonder why the song got featured in an iPod advertisement.

#5 The Spell – Alphabeat

From: The Spell

Danish pop group enters the countdown at #5 with their very impressive The Spell. The song inspired by Black Box’ I Don’t Know Anybody Else features a very powerful hook which is also groovy. Anders SG’s vocal work is simply amazing. The song sounds modern with a touch of the 80s or 90s. This song is really a must-have for your playlists.

#4 The Fear – Lily Allen

From: It’s Not Me, It’s You

Lily Allen makes her second appearance on the countdown with The Fear. What I like about the song is that it has very witty lyrics. Lily Allen really writes well. Compliment this ability with your voice and you got yourselves a very powerful combo. Fortunately, Allen does possess this combo. The Fear sounds a little bit different from common pop records. However, the song still packs a lot of punch thanks to Allen’s vocals and intelligence. Lily Allen just never stops evolving musically.

#3 Uprising – Muse

From: The Resistance

Coming off an appearance at Twilight’s soundtrack (which I found to be very disappointing), Muse came back this 2009 with their first single, Uprising, for their fifth studio effort. The guitar work sounds awesome. Matt Bellamy can really be considered as one of rock’s gods in my opinion. Muse is already a rock legend. Their craft continues to get better with every album that they release.

#2 Bad Romance – Lady GaGa

From: The Fame Monster

Initially, I thought of Bad Romance as my #1 for this countdown. However, I heard suddenly this song which also came out this 2009 which definitely blew me away. Anyway, Bad Romance is one of Lady GaGa’s greatest singles ever. Heck, even the music video looks very polished and grand. Lady GaGa’s musicality is just one of the best ever in my opinion. Even though Poker Face got overplayed before, my respect for Lady GaGa’s craft never wavered and I am very happy that my respect did not waver at all.

THE WINNER:

#1 Bulletproof – La Roux

From: La Roux

Bulletproof is the song that totally blew me away. Eleanor Jackson’s sweet delivery absolutely is the bomb. We must also not forget Ben Langmaid’s synth work in this song. Very awesome work done by the two members of La Roux. Everything about this song is simply spectacular – the verses, the chorus, the arrangement, and the vocals. I am just really happy that I got to know this song even though it was by accident.

This ends my countdown. Please comment – may it be violent or not. I reply to your comments people! And as for my plans for the blog next year, I will be putting them into detail possibly tomorrow. Thanks for reading my seven-part countdown!

As for the previous parts of the countdown, I will be putting their respective links here:

OUR PICK FOR SOCIALITE OF THE YEAR IN 2010

Ice T is known for having jaw dropping chicks and his lady Coco is no exception.  Over the top and paparazzi hungry, she has been making noise in the industry in 2009 but ultimately has been out-shined by Amber but don’t count this ‘down ass chick’ out yet.  Coco loves the camera, has a strong male following and has an industry player as a boyfriend.  Proof that she may be next year’s IT girl.  Look at the footage below that is being circulated everywhere.  Even doing nothing (well being half naked) she gets media attention.  Below are some pics that made Ice T’s  side piece popular this year.

More pics if you click below.  You know you wanna ;)

i need you, i need you, i need you so

It’s been a long time. I shouldn’t have left you. As much as it pains me, I’ll have to end up Rakim quoting here.

It’s been almost two months since I last posted. I find this kind of funny (if not, ahem, ironic) because during these two months I’ve been exposed to so many things that would have made for, in my opinion, very interesting posts. But now those things are either dated (Lady Gaga’s fabulous concert, a risqué theme party I attended, my experiences writing an article about blogging) or boring to me (Tiger Woods - nuf said), so I don’t feel like dwelling on them. Hopefully this coming year (which I just realized starts in three days) will provide as much inspiration as this last one did, along with more free time for writing.

Gosh, I cannot believe that another year has passed already. I feel like ever since I turned sixteen, the years have been passing faster and faster. It’s funny. When I was younger, I couldn’t wait to be older and just wanted the years to pass quickly, but now that I am older, I want them to slow down. I want time to reflect and make moments last, as much as I know that once the moment has passed, it’s gone. Moments seem to last forever when you’re living them, but then they sort of disappear.

God, that sounded melodramatic.

But as much as I do yearn for the days of slowly passing time and all that philosophical business, I’ve really enjoyed my first semester as an adult. I’ve really taken to all of this cooking, cleaning and decision-making, much to my family’s surprise. Back when I was living at home, I never cooked and rarely cleaned, but now that’s all I seem to be doing. I try out new recipes in my spare time. I think new ones up for fun. I clean every other day. I lend people umbrellas and scarves so that they don’t get wet or catch cold. I’ve gone window-shopping for 1950’s-style aprons. I WASH DISHES.

Since starting this domestic life, I’ve been the butt of a lot of jokes claiming that my newfound domesticity is somehow anti-feminist. This is bullshit. Anyone who has lived on their own can tell you that all of these behaviours have nothing to do with being a feminist or not. They have to do with being a responsible adult, as lame as it sounds.

The way I look at it, you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do, so you might as well enjoy it as much as you can and do it as well as you can. Bitching and moaning about something that’s going to be a part of my life from this point going forward is silly.

Anyways, I’ll stop now before I go into a complete rant about the hypocrisy of some so-called feminists. I’ll leave you with “My Boy Lollipop” by Millie Small which is equal parts annoying and infectious. Enjoy, if you can.

xoxo Allyssia

Ku Bahagia OST Laskar Pelangi

by Sherina

Kita bermain-main
Siang-siang hari Senin
Tertawa satu sama lain
Semua bahagia, semua bahagia

Kita berangan-angan
Merangkai masa depan
Dibawah kerindangan dahan
Semua bahagia, semua bahagia

reff:

Matahari seakan tersenyum
Walau makan susah walau hidup susah
Walau tuk senyum pun susah

Walau makan susah walau hidup susah
Walau tuk senyum pun susah
Oh Ku bahagia 2x

Kita berlari-lari
Bersama mengejar mimpi
Tak ada kata tuk berhenti
Semua bahagia, semua bahagia

Warped Tour 2010

Bands have been announced!
This is so late, but I was in Los Angeles and didn’t have time to post!

Click here for the bands who have been confirmed! To see if they’re playing the date you’re going to, click their name.

Personally, I am stoked to see Anarbor, Breathe Carolina, Hey Monday, Mayday Parade, Motion City Soundtrack, The All-American Rejects, The Cab, The Rocket Summer, VersaEmerge, and We The Kings. If that doesn’t show you how in to “modern pop” I am, I don’t know what does.

“I’m Alive” Was the Biggest Swedish Radio Hit of the ‘00s

Today, the Swedish Performing Rights Society (Stim) revealed that Céline Dion’s “I’m Alive” was the most played song on Swedish radio of the ‘00s. The announcement lists the biggest songs, written by Swedish songwriters and the Céline Dion hit was included on her A New Day Has Come album from 2002. But few remembers, or even were aware of its inclusion in the Stuart Little 2 movie. There were two versions made of the video – with or without movie scenes.

Top Airplay Chart ‘00s
1. Céline Dion: I’m Alive (Andreas Carlsson, Kristian Lundin)
2. Bon Jovi: It’s My Life (Jon Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora, Max Martin)
3. Titiyo: Come Along (Joakim Berg, Peter Svensson)
4. Robyn: Keep This Fire Burning (Remee, Ulf Lindström, Johan Ekhé, Robyn Carlsson)
5. Kent: FF (Martin Sköld, Sami Sirviö, Markus Mustonen, Joakim Berg, H Mänty, N Danino)
6. Patrik Isaksson: Hos dig är jag underbar (Patrik Isaksson, Anders Glenmark)
7. Laleh: Live Tomorrow (Laleh Pourkarim)
8. Robyn: Be Mine (Klas Åhlund, Robyn Carlsson)
9. Robyn: Don’t Stop The Music (Remee, Alexander Kronlund, Ulf Lindström, Johan Ekhé, Robyn Carlsson)
10. Takida: Curly Sue (Patrik Frisk, Tomas Wallin, Robert Pettersson, Fredrik Pålsson, Kristoffer Söderström, Mattias Larsson)

Fresh Vid: Jay-Z feat. Mr. Hudson - Young Forever

Check out the beautiful new B&W video by Jay-Z for his single Young Forever featuring Mr. Hudson. The B&W imagery really fits the music well and captures the essence of the song. This is one of my favorite tracks off of Blueprint 3. Age is but a number, I want to be forever young…

Faber Drive and The New Cities - Bronson Center, Ottawa

The New Cities

Based on the obvious demographics of this show, the ‘classic rocker’ in me felt a little out of place among screaming 14 year-old girls. But that is the beauty of music and concert photography; I have the opportunity to experience (and dare I say enjoy…!) a wide variety of music and artists that perhaps otherwise I would NEVER be exposed to!

If you’ve perused our online galleries at eh! List Images then you know we have previously had an opportunity to shoot Faber Drive, but we are never one to pass on an opportunity to get some new shots and to see a new opening act – and we weren’t disappointed. The New Cities is a new pop-rock group that enjoyed a fairly successful single late in the summer 2009 with Deadend Countdown peaking at number 16 on the Canadian pop charts.

Faber Drive

These guys have LOTS of energy, which makes for challenging shooting conditions! You have to watch and anticipate their movements to frame and focus a quality shot – but the lighting at the Bronson Center is generally pretty good and we were able to get some good shots.

Faber Drive are becoming very seasoned performers; it’s been 5 months since we last saw them and I could see a more mature and polished stage show with this visit. This band has a marketable look, perhaps with the exception of the preppy boy-next-door guitar player (or, maybe that’s the look he’s going for – if so, he is bang on…!). Clearly image conscious, these guys take the time to play to the cameras and play to the fans.

This is the second Eh! List images photographers have shot at The Bronson Center in Ottawa. The venue is a converted school auditorium and has theater style seating, including a balcony; it seats 900 and most shows have a standing room crowd in front of the stage, which means….?

…No photo pit…

Frustrating to have to push your way through a crowd of screaming 14 year-old girls to get stage shots with the wide angle. Frustrating to have to either frame every picture to get the hundreds of waving hands out of the shot, or find a way to artistically include them but not have your shots look like the thousands of crowd shots actually taken by the crowd…

The space is there for a for a photo pit, but it would limit the standing room crowd and might be a challenge to secure (but it would mean better pictures for me…). Overall a nice mid-sized venue suitable for all ages, which is seriously lacking in Ottawa.

Everyone says I'm looking for trouble!

Jemina Pearl

Break It Up

(Ecstatic Peace)

When an artist decides to go it alone after plying your trade in a successful Punk band, it’s always a risky business trying to discover your new sound. What you produce could be a flop or could be a hit. Fortunately, Jemina Pearl has found herself in the latter bracket and created a very solid debut offering.

The release of Break It Up comes just over a year after much loved band Be Your Own Pet decided it would be no more. Her album with help from former Be Your Own Pet drummer John Eatherly, is the natural progression from the chaotic, random and fun loving sound of their former band. But there are the signs of a girl who still wants to go out and party but is growing up.

It’s not to say songs like “D is for Danger” are tame and boring. Although this probably not the best track on the album as it is slow and just meanders along.  But on “I Hate People” with a cameo from Iggy Pop, Pearl’s sarcasm and dead pan sense of humour are showcased by singing about the things that we all hate about going out and the things that irritate us the most. And being darn proud of “hating everyone.”

Musically the album finds its influences from a swinging 60’s/70’s disco punk feel. “Band on the Run” is evidence of this as it is a stomp along, dance along, feel good song to leave a smile on your face.  While singing about leaving home, growing up and being on the road, Pearl is potty mouthed as ever by “waving goodbye with a middle finger.”

Pearl uses this album to demonstrate the variation in her vocal talents where as in the past it was all about shouting and rage. She shows us she can hold a long note and surprise us. “Looking for Trouble” will get your head nodding with its simple and addictive bass line to go hand in hand with Pearl challenging your preconceptions you may have of her.

“Nashville Shores” also follows this formula with will leave you singing along in no time. It’s all about being grateful for what you have and not forgetting where you come from. Ending with a guitar solo borrowed from a country music style, it’s a genre Nashville is famous for.

It ends with the biggest surprise. The Negative Approach tinged, fast, gang vocal filled “So Sick!” which draws all the best moments from all other songs into a 2.40 minute whirlwind which will leave you feeling, well, sick and wanting puke!

One of the great things about this album as it bridges the gap between the harshness of old Be Your Own Pet albums and the direction Pearl wants to go in. It will satisfy those fans, while pulling you in a new direction.

You might find her annoying. You might think she’s badass. But she has only given us a slice of what we can expect to hear from Ms Pearl in the future.

PHARREL GETS ROBBED BY MAGICIAN?!

OK, so I was joking about the being robbed but check it out, even Pharrel admitted he was going to check his bank account after.

By the way, word is that Game is ecstatic about the work that Pharrel has done on his forth coming album, so happy that he has just got a tattoo of Pharrel signifying their new friendship and pending success.

Alice's Song (featuring Dusty the dog)

Hello folks! I hope you’re having a nice day and enjoying the wintery weather. Remember to wrap up warm!

My friend Alice recently suggested that I should write a song about stale birthday cake. I wasn’t so sure at first, but it turned into something I’m really quite fond of. So far, the folk to whom the song relates have enjoyed it, even my trusty four-legged pal, Dusty Miller. He pops up in my new video, so  take a look. I hope you enjoy it!

Thanks so much to the people who inspired this song, I’m guessing that the ones who weren’t mentioned directly in the credits will still know who they are. And thanks so much to YOU guys for reading my blog, watching my videos and coming to my gigs. I really, really, really appreciate it.

lots of love,

from Shambles xxx

134. Dion DiMucci

Once again, Dion was a bit before my time, so there are no real anecdotes to share. He was a doo-wop singer from the Bronx who achieved stardom in the late 1950s and early 1960s. After suffering a difficult period of drug addiiction in the mid-1960s, he returned to the charts with “Abraham, Martin and John” right after the assassination of Bobby Kennedy in 1968.

Dion’s Wikipedia Page

This is probably lip-synced, but very cute nonetheless:

After becoming familiar with his big hits like “Runaraound Sue”, “The Wanderer” and “Donna The Prima Donna”, I then discovered Dion’s version of The Drifters’ hit “Ruby Baby”. I have the 45 RPM record from my collecting days in the 1980s to prove it. Here’s Dion is mid-life, performing on the Late Late Show:

Dion’s last top 40 hit was “Abraham, Martin and John”, released shortly after Bobby Kennedy’s assassination in 1968. The released recording is sweet, but a bit overproduced. I remembered seeing him perform the song on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour as a child, and luckily, this superior performance is available on YouTube. I greatly admire his ability to play in the finger style, while singing soulfully. The man has a beautiful voice.

Inbetween his doo-wop days and the folk song “Abraham, Martin and John”, Dion produced a lesser known body of blues-influenced work which stands up nicely to the test of time. I have tried to include a few songs from that period. Dion was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1989.

Dead Gaze - End Of Days, Why Not You?

Photobucket

& yet more lo-fi psyche pop. Dead Gaze is the conception of Ransome Cole Furlow. Surroundings play an important part in the development of a band’s sound and this is no more apparent than with Dead Gaze. Brought up in rural Mississippi, Furlow drawls lackadaisically over reverb-heavy instrumentation reminiscent of vast rambling countryside and hot summer days. Simple songs with glorious textures.

Electrifying

Very arguable if the recent roster of artists Timbaland collaborated with is shocking. I mean, we’re talking about Timbaland here. Timbaland Presents Shock Value II is an amazing, amazing album. Daughtry, Chad Kroeger, OneRepublic, Jet, The Fray, Katy Perry, JoJo, Nelly Furtado, Keri Hilson and even Miley Cyrus are all present here.

From Timbaland himself,

I’m so fortunate and blessed to be able to create a Shock Value II, I’m really proud of the caliber of artists on this album and all the work they put into making it a success. I can promise that no one has ever heard Katy Perry, The Fray, or Brandy sound like this before. It’s exciting because not only am I giving fans the best of me on each track, I’m giving them a glimpse of their favorite artist in a completely different light. This is an album that can be listened to from start to finish every single time because each song is so unique and the range of artists so diverse. I can’t wait for my fans to hear the collaborations.

Hungry for the Sun

Note from the Author

This is a song I wrote a few months ago, it could be about anyone because it’s focused on the universal feeling of loneliness or fear.

- Ruby DayBranch

Listen to ‘Hungry for the Sun’

Hungry For the Sun

Here comes the storm

Falling from up above

Flooding all in sight

I’m just trying to see the light

In these dark and shadowed corners

Just hungry for the sun

Now I’ll just ask you this

Are you ready set go

Nothing more, no nothing less

We’re like Jack and Jill, without the mess

Sneaking peaks up under my dress

Okay now may we digress

Find me a place

That I can call my own

It must be sturdy and bright

Can I see the stars at night

Through these open roof top windows

Just hungry for the sun

Now I’ll just ask you this

Are you ready set go

Nothing more, no nothing less

We’re like Jack and Jill, without the mess

Sneaking peaks up under my dress

Okay now may we digress

Now will you save me from the storm

That’s falling from up aboeve

I’m starting to feel alone

And it’s following me home

On these dark and winding streets

Just hungry for the sun

MUSIC: Carmen Reece

“My music makes you want to move but also moves you emotionally” ~ Carmen Reece

Says singer-songwriter-pianist Carmen Reece.” This ability to connect on a gut level with her listeners – whether she’s busting out a club bumper like “Right Here” or unwrapping a slow-burn piano ballad like “Long Goodbye” – is something she’s always admired in her heroes, powerhouse vocalists she calls “the divas.”

Carmen Reece has made waves with her debut single “Right Here” charting at #3 on the Billboard Top 40 Dance Chart and #10 on the Billboard Club Chart.

In fact, as she puts the finishing touches on her debut album, Love in Stereo, ground-floor fans are hailing HER as “Diva 2.0” and drawing comparisons to Mariah Carey, Alicia Keys and Beyoncé. That designation is bolstered by Carmen’s having been “discovered” by multiplatinum producer-songwriter Mark Feist, known for his work with the likes of Beyoncé, Céline Dion and Natalie Cole, among other game-changing singers.

“I’m hugely flattered when people mention me alongside those artists because they have not only incredible stage presence and technical ability, but they each have their own truly distinctive identity,” Carmen explains. “When you hear Mariah, for instance, you instantly know it’s Mariah. There’s no other voice like that. So, yes, I want to move you with my music, but I also want you to know that it’s ME who’s moving you.”

new Kim Taylor... soon...

Recently featured on The Ghost Whisperer (a “TV show,” or so say my sources)… Cincinnati singer-songwriter Kim Taylor popped the news on her website yesterday that her follow-up to 2006’s I Feel Like a Fading Light will be out in a few weeks.  It’ll be called Little Miracle, produced by Jimi Zhivago, and the first 100 downloaders will get “an added bonus.”

I’m hoping there’s also a physical release (or a repeat of the vinyl / different edition like she did for Fading Light).

Pop Astrology: Venus in Sagittarius; December 1st - December 25th 2009

Pop Prophecy watches the heavens so you don’t have to.

If you know basic astrology, you know Venus rules love and partnership. The sign she is in influences relationships for the population.

Venus entered Sagittarius on December 1st @ 5:03 PM EST.

While Venus was in Scorpio last period, relationships were more sexual and intense, which can definitely cause problems if the energy is misused. They were more likely to be involved in power struggles or cater to obsessive and smothering tendencies; they were easily susceptible to destruction.

With Venus in Sagittarius we can let go of relationships a little and not clutch so tightly, let the friendly happy-go-lucky energy take over.  We should be influenced to be less possessive and jealous and want our freedom–though that also depends on this year’s transit.  It’s possible during this time you’ll want to be single and explore other options, or a little rebellious to any demands of your partner.  Flirting will be very friendly so be cautious–you might be “cheating” or hit on without even knowing it.  Venus in Sagittarius is a lovely dating period if single.

For Single & Dating — Good 7/10

Early December can bring you special opportunities for relationships through friendships, your work, and the internet.  Sounds general, doesn’t it?  Of course these are always opportune areas; in early December it’s especially fruitful.  You may be tempted to commit and make any opportunity longterm, if you do, in early December is the best time.  However, this period also starts out quite emotionally intense for friendly Sagittarius, so take a couple weeks before you give your heart away.  Around the 17th and on dating should be sexually charged and you will be especially attractive to the opposite sex; this is the best time to connect with them.  December 20th and on gives many opportunities and is the best time for some lovin’ & romance at home.

For Couples — Almost Excellent 9/10 In the beginning of the period relationships feel more steady, faithful and responsible.  From very late November to December 4th, it’s an excellent time to begin any longterm relationship, and set or meet any relationship goals and wishes–whether moving in together, marriage, or work oriented.  Early to mid December can prove to be a bit of an emotional roller coaster, so it’s important to sense and rely on that generally friendly energy to get through any difficulties. From mid to the 17th of December, partnerships will be most strengthened and harmonious.  For the whole period, we advise taking a long-distance trip to get closer with your significant other;  mid December to the 17th being the choicest time. Best Areas of Romance and Love This Year This period’s best area of romance is the home.  Even though Sagittarius is an adventurous sign, this year’s period is most fruitful being at home.  Make time for your partner.  Communicating is also a best area, so remember to talk out any problems, and be patient and listening.  Work is a boon. If in a relationship, Embrace the beneficial time apart work gives–try not to text or talk too much with your loved ones there.  If single–this can offer opportunities, but remember; love can be dangerous at work. Spending time with your friends is also a best area.  Socialize with them more than usual;  it can be a bonding experience in any relationship.  If single, you could find a longterm relationship companion through your friends. Venus stays 24 days in Sagittarius.  The period officially ends mid-Christmas @ 1:17 PM EST.  Enjoy the fun while it lasts!

How To Write Like Jeff Buckley

1. Invent Metaphors That Don’t Withstand Close Scrutiny

These should appear deep and thoughtful, but only for a moment:

I am                  in the                of your acceptance.

“I am happy in the glow of your acceptance” is no good, because it’s trite and it sort of makes sense.  Try “I am lost in the chasm of your acceptance”, or I am dying in the arms of your acceptance”.  The effect you’re aiming for is one of “Man, yes, that is so true … wait.  What?”

2. Use Lots of Water Imagery

This is sad, because of Buckley’s untimely death, but waves, rivers, drops, rain, drownings and trickles are all your friends.

3. Startle With One Earthy Word

A phrase like this:

Took my hand, and led me to your …

Should end with?  No, not “room”, not “love”.  You want:

Took my hand, and led me to your sex.

See?  Easy.

4. Go For The Straight-up Paradox

Also easy:

See it clearly with blinded eyes.

Ignorant in the knowledge of your …

Freeze, freeze in that sunshine.

5. Embrace Useful Words

crystal, pure, child, swim, wave, movement, feel, touch, we, you, dying

6. Avoid the Not so Useful

leather, helicopter, politics, lawnmower, funny, laugh, happy

I’ve saved this one for last because it’s the most important.

7. Treat Every Casual Encounter As An Apocalypse

A woman needs to feel like She Is The One, so don’t patronise her with nonsense like “We move to the bed, we know tonight will be special”.  Ewww.  Instead, try something like:

Tumbling through the waves of your kisses,
Pure and crystal your skin,
Again it comes, this knowing, this knowing,
In a sleep so deep I was awake.

Then buy an umbrella, my friend, because it’s about to rain chicks.

Janet Jackson Readies European Tour For 2010

Janet Jackson Rock Wit U Tour 2008

Pop & RnB Goddess Janet Jackson has revealed in an interview with the The Times newspaper (UK) that she is planning a European tour in 2010.  It has been over 9 years since Janet has embarked on a European leg, the last time was for “The Velvet Rope” tour in 1998. Her last tour “Rock Witchu” for 2008’s LP “Discipline” was planned to be worldwide but was cancelled due to her coming down with Vertigo, an illness which could be detrimental for a performer who dances around as much as she does.

As mega Janet fan I’m sure you know I’m screaming right now, really and truly this is what Janet needs I think f*ck the US they dont even know good music anymore, all their wrapped up in is whose shaking there coochie in a video. Tut!.

Funny enough I’m not too surprised shes taking it over here I’ve noticed a lot of US artists are starting to promote overseas more than their home country, and to be honest it’s better, expand your market, improve your fan base and reach out to people who arent lucky enough to visit your shows in the states.

It’s been way too long since Janet’s rocked this side of the pond we all await her return, That’s the way love goes.

"Sei tu", dopo Sanremofestival.59, riecco Manuel Auteri

Man blir lite lurad ibland…..

June Evans – If You Want My Lovin’

WTF...WABBITS?

Since my last blog post, an overwhelming urge came over me to create art that perverted the cartoon rabbit. I don’t know where it came from. Like many kids from the 1980’s, I grew up watching Bugs Bunny and salivating during cereal commercials featuring Trix The Rabbit. Trix always had some scheme to get one over on those asshole kids, but the poor bastard always managed to slip up before he could get a bite of that colorful sugar crusted breakfast cereal.

“Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids,” sang a choir of children’s voices at the end of every commercial.

Anyway, the sudden inspiration behind these “Wabbit” paintings remains a mystery to me. I guess it doesn’t really matter. Who cares? Does every cool piece of art have to be explained?

The first of two “Wabbit” paintings is really crazy. I call it “WA’SUP DOC”.
The piece measures 24in” x 30in” on gallery profile canvas. As always I drew, painted and distressed the character on sketch paper and later collaged it onto the canvas. For me, the dark suit and TNT detonator spell fun with a capital F U N.

Next up is “THE SAVAGE SHE-WABBIT”. This work measures 24in” x 30in” on gallery profile canvas and was created using the same process as “WA’ SUP DOC”.
A rather curvy bombshell in a white rabbit suit is the key component in this composition. Yowza!
I think the irony in the piece is also fun. It’s a well know fact that rabbits are usually food for larger animals, but make no mistake, “THE SAVAGE SHE-WABBIT” is at the top of the food chain in this composition.

Both “WA’SUP DOC” & “THE SAVAGE SHE-WABBIT” are now available on my website.
